LYRIC & CHORD: LAYLA (Unplugged) - ERIC CLAPTON

Lagu ini ditulis oleh 'Eric Clapton' dan 'Jim Gordon'.Pertama kali rilis oleh band 'Blues-rock' besutan mereka yaitu 'Derek and the Dominos' sebagai track ke-tigabelas dalam album mereka 'Layla and Other assorted Love Songs' pada November 1970. Lagu ini terinspirasi oleh sebuah cerita dari negri Persia 'The Story of Layla and Majnun', dan juga terlebih lagi terinspirasi karena kisah cinta tak berbalas dari Clapton untuk 'Pattie Boyd', istri dari teman-nya yang sesama musisi 'George Harrison' (Gitaris-The Beatles), walaupun akhirnya Clapton sempat menikahi Pattie (1979-1988), selain lagu ini Clapton juga pernah menulis lagu Balada untuknya yang juga merupakan sebuah hits dari Clapton yaitu 'Wonderfull Tonight'.

Pada sekitar dua dekade kemudian Eric Clapton membawakan lagu ini dalam sebuah konser akustik 'Unplugged' yang juga dibuat sebagai 'album live', lagu 'Layla' versi akustik (Unplugged) ini pada tahun 1993 memenangkan 'Gramy Award' sebagai lagu Rock terbaik (Best Rock Song).

Lagu ini ditulis oleh Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, dan Andrew Loog Oldham (Stones Manager). Pertama kali dirilis sebagai single oleh Marianne Faithfull di tahun 1964 yang menempati posisi ke-9 di tangga lagu Inggris. Lalu The Rolling Stones merekam versi mereka sendiri setelahnya, yang dirilis pada tahun 1965 dalam album mereka yang berjudul Desember's Childern (And Everybody's) dan tak lama kemudian dirilis sebagai single di Amerika Utara. Selain itu The Stone juga pernah merilis lagu ini di Itali yang juga dalam versi menggunakan bahasa itali, yang diberi judul 'Con Le Mie Lacrime'.

Pertama kali rilis pada tahun 1966 dalam album 'Aftermath' di UK, dan pada tahun 1967 kembali dirilis di Amerika dengan versi yang lebih pendek dalam album 'Flowers'. Lagu ini ditulis oleh Mick Jagger, dan Keith Richards. M. Lagu ini pertama kali rilis pada tanggal 13 Mei 1966 sebagai single pertama dari album ke-empat The Rolling Stones 'Aftermath' (US version). Pertama kali ditulis / dibuat, judul dari lagu ini tanpa menggunakan tanda koma. Keith Richards mengatakan bahwa tanda koma tersebut ditambahkan oleh lable / perusahaan rekaman mereka 'Decca'. Lagu ini ditulis oleh M.Jagger & K.Richards, dimana Jagger menulis bagian Lirik, dan Richards menulis pada bagian notasi / musik. Lagu ini memuncaki tangga lagu di UK dan Amerika pada tahun 1966, dan di tahun 2004 menempati peringkat 176 dalam daftar '500 Greatest Songs of All Time' versi majalah 'Rolling Stones'.
Lagu ini mengingatkan akan masa kecil saya, karena lagu ini pernah dibuat soundtrack untuk sebuah film serial 'Tour Of Duty' yang tayang pada sekitar tahun 80'an akhir sampai pertengahan 90'an yang sering saya tonton, film serial yg pernah tayang di Tv swasta ini memang sangat terkenal di masanya. Seperti yang dikatakan Bill Wyman di 'Rolling with the Stones', bahwa lirik lagu ini sepenuhnya ditulis oleh Keith Richards dengan bantuan Brian Jones pada komposisi musikal. Lagu ini diambil dari album 'Sticky Fingers' yang rilis pada tahun 1971. Lagu ini ditulis oleh Mick Jgger dan Keith Richards yang masuk pada peringkat 334 dalam daftar '500 Greatest Song of All Time' versi majalah 'Rolling Stones' tahun 2004.
Ada yang menarik mengenai apa yang dikatakan Keith Richards mengenai lagu ini, beliau mengatakan "jika ada cara klasik saat 'Saya dan Mick' bekerja sama, maka inilah dia..".
